Army arrested five activist of anti peace treaty United Peoples |Democratic Front (UPDF) from Amchari areas in Kawkhali upazila in the early hours on 16 May and recovered firearms and other materials from their possession. Acting on a tip off, operation was led by Major Iyasin, army sources said. The recovered firearms include one LG, two guns. The army also recovered VCD sets, cassettes, four cell phones, a tape recorder, and receipt books used for collecting toll, they added. The arrestees are Novel Chakma (20), Sumointa Chakma (21) Barun Chakma (36) Nirmal Chakma (22), and Sushil Chakma (17). They were involved in extortion in the area, the army source said.
