Census for 'Mro population" in Bandarban

The Mro leaders have been decided to census their population in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) from today. They added at first step they would be start from Lama, Alikodom and Chimbok hills and all the population census supervise by the 'Mro Social Council". The leaders also added that they are also like to count the child number of school going and the land survey with respectively. In accordance to the census of 1991 the Mro populations was 22,000 and 28,109 in 2001. But the Mro leaders added that statistically census is not correct. They will be more then 60,000 in three hill districts. In accordance to Ranglai Mro and Sing Eyoung Mro, in three hill districts they were fourth majorities within the 11 indigenous communities.

They are living in very backward place in the country and somewhere wrong information presented about them. That's why they have taken this project for knowing the proper population number in the country, which will help the donors and development initiative agencies for taking proper step on that regards.
